  • A specific description of the records requested.

Public Records Requests

Jemez Mountain Public Schools recognizes the right of the public to information concerning its actions, its policies, and the details of

its educational and business operations. Superintendent Loren Cushman is appointed the custodian of public records and may

delegate this duty as necessary. As follows reflects how to submit a request for public records from Jemez Mountain Public Schools.

Public Record Request Guidelines:

  • Requests should be specific in describing the records requested.

  • Requests for justifications of actions are not proper requests under the law.

  • Requests must include the requester’s full name, phone number, and mailing

    address.

How to submit a request for public records:

What to expect:

  • Upon receipt of written or electronic Inspection of Public Records request,

Superintendent Loren Cushman will respond in writing within three (3) business

days to acknowledge receipt of that request and, if the inspection of the

requested records is not permitted, explain in writing when the records will be

available for inspection or when the JMPS Custodian of Records will respond to

the request.

  • Superintendent Loren Cushman may permit access to, or provide for the copying

of, the records requested within fifteen (15) days following receipt of the written

request or will provide an explanation of a cause for delay if the records are not

available and will give notification of the time the records will be available, or,

may deny access if there is no record to match the request or if the requested

information is subject to an exception under the Inspection of Public Records Act.

  • After determining if the requested records exist, and are subject to inspection,

copies of the records will be made available for review to the requester.

  • Arrangements can be made to have the results of request mailed, if necessary.

  • As follows are the district’s charges per cents per page for copies of records.

JMPS can invoice you when you receive the copies.

  • 50¢ per page for materials indicated as Board minutes, agendas, financial

    records, contracts, courses of study, or statistical summaries.

  • 75¢ per copy for materials not listed above that require additional clerical

    and/or professional staff time to make available.

  • Actual cost, if available, will be assessed.

  • Free copies shall be furnished if they are to be used in claims against the

    United States.
